# County Codes

> Colorado county codes for client residence

## Overview

County codes are two-digit sequential codes assigned to each of Colorado's 64 counties. These codes are used in the `COUNTY_OF_RESIDENCE` field on the Client record.

**Field format:** `9(2)` -- two-digit numeric string
**Valid values:** `01`-`64`, `77`, `99`

> If a client is houseless, assign the county where the client is physically located. Do not leave the field blank.

## Special Codes

| `99` | Unknown (Withdrawal Management only) |

>
> `99` (Unknown) is valid **only** for clients receiving withdrawal management services.

> [!NOTE]
>
> `77` (Out of State) exempts the client from the Zip Code of Residence requirement.

## Validation Rules

1. Cannot be blank, space, null, or empty
2. Must match exactly one value from the code tables
3. `99` (Unknown) is valid **only** for clients receiving withdrawal management services
4. `77` (Out of State) exempts the client from the Zip Code of Residence requirement
