# Gender Identity

> Self-identified gender codes for CoBHRM

**Field format:** `9(2)` -- two-digit numeric string
**Valid values:** `01`-`05`, `96`-`98`

| Code | Description |
| - | - |
| `01` | Transgender-female |
| `02` | Transgender-male |
| `03` | Cisgender |
| `04` | Non-binary |
| `05` | Two-Spirit |
| `96` | Asked but Unknown |
| `97` | Other |
| `98` | Declined |

> Gender Identity is optional if Sex at Birth is provided. It is recommended but not required.
