# Involuntary Reason

> Involuntary commitment reason codes for CoBHRM legal status

When Legal Status is `04` (72-hour evaluation), `05` (Short-term certification), `06` (Long-term certification), `07` (Emergency Alcohol/Drug Commitment), or `09` (Involuntary Alcohol/Drug Commitment), the Involuntary Reason field becomes required.

**Field format:** `9(1)` -- single-digit numeric string
**Valid values:** `01`-`03`

| Code | Reason |
| - | - |
| `01` | Danger to Self |
| `02` | Danger to Others |
| `03` | Gravely Disabled |
