# BAB - Special Connections Baby

## Overview

The SC BABY schema captures birth and baby outcome data for the Special Connections (SC) program, which serves pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorders. This record documents outcomes for babies born to program participants.

> This schema is **only required** for Special Connections program participants who give birth during enrollment. Submit one BAB record per baby born.

Healthy baby born to a Special Connections participant. All conditionally required fields populated because `LIVE_BIRTH = 1`.

### Stillbirth Example

When `LIVE_BIRTH = 0`, the baby identification and weight fields are not required.

### Edge Case: Multiple Births

For twins or multiples, submit one BAB record per baby. Each record shares the same `BHASO_ADMISSION_IDENTIFIER` but has a different `BHASO_BABY_IDENTIFIER`.
